Yorkshire Architectural and York Archaeological Society
Founded in 1842, the Yorkshire Architectural and York Archaeological Society (YAYAS) is a registered charity existing to promote the study of the historic heritage of the city of York as well as the county of Yorkshire. The Society seeks to stimulate interest by arranging lectures and excursions, and by issuing publications. It owns the Evelyn Collection of historic lantern slides and negatives of historic York, and has been instrumental in preserving many of the city's unique features.
